I think you were cast very well as The Fool in Shakespeare. Certainly androgynes, sidekicks with humor and musics.
But also don't feel like you can't perform material that you relate to. Try to stay within your gender and age range for conventional auditions, (good auditions won't mind when you bust out more of a reach piece)....but read plays! enjoy them! and when something really affects you, take note of it and see if you can sell that story.
