Okay, so what is it about a pairing or show that drives people to write things out of canon or not?  In my broadening fanfic reading, I have found that the Alternative reality/universe concept seems to be adopted by some fanfic segments and not others.  Using the Buffy-verse as an example of how some pairs in the same universe are treated

I'm not sure that this will make much sense and if it doesn't, I'll blame it on the fact that my pain meds are kicking in. :)

I tend to keep Buffy and Giles inherently themselves simply because their dynamic is what draws them together in my mind. I remember the first time I watched The Prom...and when Giles walked up to Buffy, I was convinced he was going to ask her to dance. And then Angel showed up...

This was before I was all about Buffy/Giles as well. There was just something there. And to be honest, I think that was the point where I started seeing Buffy and Giles, Slayer and Watcher, more as Buffy/Giles.

El (my girl) insists on using "Biles" as a name for them. But, that's because she's anti-Buffy/Giles. *LOL*

It's Buffy and Giles that I love...I love who they are, I love their characters...they just need the push to get them together. I've never felt the need to change who they are...just the situation that they're in
