[After receiving the call, Ichabod wasted no time in checking his mailbox. What he found in it confirmed his worst fears. Jane Smith, Netherlands and America were the three victims inside the building that he witnessed burn down. He picked up the phone and called Lucas immediately.]

Lucas, this is Dr. Crane. I have...some important information for you.

Officer Grady was there at the scene. I firmly believe beyond any reasonable doubt that he was the main perpetrator in the deaths of America, Jane and Netherlands.

[His voice begins to break slightly as he tried to calm himself from his anger that was rising.]

I tried to get them out, but I was too late. The fires were too intense and the door was too hot and heavy to break through. I'm sorry.

. . . He -- He set it on fire? You saw him there? You saw him do it? You saw them when they were . . .

So Jane Smith is a leftover from Westport and Lucy Smith is some monster. They probably got some hotblooded idea to try to 'get through to her', did they?

It's no surprise the town had measures against that.

Y-Yeah. It was probably something like that. It would be the sort of thing they'd do . . .

[And despite everything, Lucas can't help a small laugh at the word 'measures'. He is now imagining Jane Smith bursting into flame whenever the name 'Samantha Achewood' is spoken to her.]

[He was hoping that they made it out, despite the bad feelings he was getting.]

We can get burned, sick, and die, but...we usually come out of it pretty fast depending on how bad the damage was. Something like that wouldn't have caused them to die...not that fast...they would have still had time to get out before that happened.

[And Ed is silent, listening. Opening his mouth a few times as if to interrupt but refrains, instead, going out to check said note in the mailbox. The revelation is not lost on him either, the possible implications it held. He's quiet himself for a good while before, finally...]
