Dream Sequence

So my younger sister, the one that does the art for The Exile, and I occasionally have chit-chats about writing. She's more of an artist that a storytelller, but being an animator and an avid reader she does do some storytelling and lots of critiquing. :) Can't help laughing as "AWAKE" is on my list for new favorite show.

I would disagree about dream sequences; it depends on the type of story. A writer dealing with a story that centers around spiritual material, or a character that has a powerful spiritual center, dreams and vision are paramount. Even if a story deals with realism-real people dream. Of course you can overdue any device, but the judgment as to whether or not it is "lazy writing" very individual, when it comes to genre, character development, writing skills.

Looked awake up on wikipedia, premise sounds sad and interesting. I may have to watch it.

I don't think I agree with her.I feel that any writing or storytelling tool no matter how poorly used in the past can be given a fresh use at any time.

Awake is sad, slightly disturbing, but extremely well acted, and realized so far. Just hope they keep the mystery up and don't reveal too much too soon.
