Daily Doodle: Clothes-drawing practice...

Sep 07, 2011 08:59

I picked something with a lot of gathers so that I could practice drawing fabric folds. Halfway through, I got bored (ADD!) and wasn't going to finish it, but then yesterday, I thought, 'Hey, why not try to make her look like Santana?' So I erased her face and re-drew it. Making it 'fanart' got me to finish it, at least ( Read more... )

Isn't it awesome?! I haven't gotten much past the entry on arts-and-crafts kid's toys yet. Omg, I loved my spirograph so, so much. I've gotta see if they still make those things because I'm suddenly feeling like I need one. :)

I don't think I ever figured out how to properly use a spirograph :') I'm not sure if I miss the 90s so much because I genuinely liked the culture, or if it's just because I grew up in it, or if I just miss being a kid. Sigh. The 90s generation is growing up, which is why they're cashing in on all the 90s nostalgia (90s are all that on TV, etc) and holy shit 1991 is officially 20 years ago how did that happen...

I don't think I ever managed to make one, completely perfect drawing. I would be doing so good and then the wheel thing would slip just a little and there's be a glitch, so I'd try again. And again. And again. It appealed to my OCD perfectionism. ;)

I saw a picture of Matt Leblanc (Joey Tribbiani) the other day and he has salt-n-pepper hair now. Talk about make a person feel old!

Oh lovely! How much fun it must be to be able to do both, and go back and forth!

Howz the eyes though?

I never did come up with a consistent style that I really liked with digital, though. What I always wanted to do was the artsy, oil-painting-looking style of digital painting, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. I do enjoy making lineart + simple coloring (like cowboy Percival, for instance) but... idk, haven't found much of an audience for that sort of thing.

The eyes had been doing okay until today. Got another migraine and I didn't even draw very much -- 45 minutes, tops. It's probably a combination of the magnifying glasses and something else I just haven't pinpointed yet, darn it.

Speaking of audiences I'm trying to understand the herd a bit. I look through this archive (the biggest art blog on tumblr I think): http://eatsleepdraw.com/archive

There is some very nice stuff there, but the thing that gets reblogged the most is this: http://eatsleepdraw.com/post/9626453122

Ha ha, I've got to be missing something there. I mean, it's cute! But 14,000+ notes? Also, idgi. :P
