It seems all the mongrels have been returned to their rightful places.

I suppose one can assume that all is now well. Aside, of course, from this curious water problem.

I am no longer terribly entertained.

Hm, what a shame.

Though more for others, ultimately.

Maybe you need a hobby. Ever tried needle-point? How about crocheting?

Unless I can suck the moisture out of either when I'm done, I doubt they would be terribly useful to me.

Unfortunately, I lack that freedom these days. More's the pity.

Ne, there's... a water problem? It's worse than the slums.

Somewhat, though I don't doubt others will not perceive an issue.

The river has been... stopped. Redirected, presumably, given that the only ones who are growing dehydrated and sick from all this are my work partners and myself.

... You've arrived quite recently, I see.

Hm... so all you need to do is find out where the river leads to now, right?

--ah, yeah~! I did. I'm Laliku Safir.

...I share your sentiment. These whelps shall have to be dealt with... or, at the least, distracted. If we could divert their attention from the sea long enough to erect and, more importantly, thoroughly bury, a small pipeline... we would not have to worry about their poor attempt at forcing us into the open...

Perhaps a few of my pets might assist in this endeavour...

...

Also. Professor, dearest... might I trouble you by asking a favor~?

That may be our most viable option. Our time, unfortunately, is short. The average human body will not last without water for a great deal of time; I already find that my ability to focus is weakening.

I can create a diversion if you can mount a construction effort. I have been working on some... live explosives using the obnoxious critters of which we recently had an influx. They will certainly keep their eyes away for a length of time.

Of course, Zaeruapollo. It's no trouble for you to ask.

I had noticed a certain change come about you... it had me worried.

I will go to work straight away, then.

...interesting. I have been working on modifying those creatures, myself... though, to a different end. Psychic white-noise generators. Their range is pathetic, though... a mere five or ten meters.

The smallest of tissue samples from your last subject's brain~? Grey or white matter should be equally useful. I have been attempting to synthesize abilities such as his, and... it would be useful to have more than theories to run on~

Don't be troubled by my wellbeing; it's a distraction. Your work is your priority.

Good.

You've some fascinating ideas, Zaeruapollo. I would be tempted to borrow one for that purpose if you could spare it.

It's a pity to say that his natural telepathy escapes me, and I hence have no use for for the substances I collected. You may have a full brain, if you wish; it seems he replaced his while I had it out for a full dissection. Convenient, in a way. One can amass infinite numbers of body parts in this fashion...
