So when he heard Nepeta's voice, he was scanning the most recent network posts, leaning up against the edge of his dented recuperacoon. He glanced up at her entrance, brow furrowing. So she already knew something was up.
"Yes," he said, deciding to play along. "Don't worry. I've not seen any sign of trouble beyond John and Feferi. It seems as though not everyone is being affected the same way this week." Which was true enough, really.

...Beclaws he was the strongest. He must have just been furious about the evil John and Feferi showing up again! Nepeta threw herself at Equius, wrapping her arms around his neck in a desperate hug. He need to believe that he was okay and her Equius was overpowering her common sense.
"I was so worried even though you're telling me not to worry! What happened in here? Did you get upset?! Oh, Equius. I'm so sorry I haven't been around you as much as I should be! I love you so much. Let's stay together this week so nothing like Venice happens again. I'll purrtect you this time, I purrmise!"

Equius' strong hand grabbed one of the arms wrapped around him, forcefully yanking Nepeta off him while at the same time tightening his bone-crushing grip. "Too late," he uttered with a snarl, his other hand reaching for Nepeta's other arm. He could just do the same thing to her as he'd done with Equius -- she wouldn't be escaping on him with two broken arms and broken legs. Maybe she could be a bargaining chip... although who would want such a peasant was beyond him.
"You're not going to be protecting anyone, lowblood. But I'll be glad to teach you your place instead. Obey me and I'll let you live, despite your revoltingly insolent behavior."

The only thing keeping her other arm out of his grasp was her wild flailing. "NO! I don't WANT to obey you! What have you done with Equius?! WHERE IS HE?! NOOOO!" She was defiant even in the face of real danger. She could get out of this. She HAD to get out of this! Must warn the others.
"Let me go, you big stupid!" It was the best insult she could think of with her head clouded by pain. Give her a break, jeeze.
