Izuna lifted a hand and pointed, a wobble of the wrist indicating his bed-side table and the glass of water sitting firmly in the middle. A shape bobbed in the liquid, spreading ash lightly to and fro to film the surface. Izuna's doll was saturated but no longer on fire. Considering the trade-off, he didn't mind cold and clammy.

The shock of cold, after such heat, had left him trembling and numb. Pain management was trained into a genjutsu specialist from birth - pain was something he had to compartmentalize, something he had to try his best to ignore. If it wasn't physical burns - and Madara had quietly reassured him that it wasn't, while touching his face and uncharred skin - he could handle this.

She didn't waste time, once Izuna had shown her the doll. She could understand the reason why it was immersed, remembering what it had looked like when Madara had shown her, though she had to make mental calculations on what she'd need to do in order to guard against drying making unnecessary tension across the new material. His skin.

She pulled the doll out, carefully running her hands over it in order to pull out some of the moisture -- but not squeezing. She wasn't sure how much pressure could be applied in order to cause pain, but she wanted a moment before asking to try and find out.

"Izuna-san, how much of what I'm doing right now can you feel?"

She gently ran a nail across uninjured material before slipping the replacement material into the water the doll had been in moments before.

Even knowing the discomfort came second-hand, it was difficult to ignore when the doll was moved, lifted from the water and touched with careful fingers. "All of it," he murmured, "but you needn't be gentle with me. After last week, there's something very karmatic about this."

From what he remembered of Sakura, the spit-fire was probably itching for a chance to dig her nails under his skin and shred while the shredding was good. She loathed his brother, and him, and his loyalties to Madara were unwaveringly strong which strained things further when she was forced into helping roles like this one.

If he knew she'd volunteered to do this, it'd have tickled him as pink as her hair. He assumed Madara had something to do with it and didn't question.

She made a low noise in the back of her throat, letting him know she'd heard. Dignifying his statement -- karma? Karma hit you in the next life -- with a response ranked low on the totem pole of priorities. Acknowledging him as Izuna ranked low in her priorities. To her, he needed to be generic ( ... )
