Reishun is so happy that Tasuki's back. She knew he would be, but that knowledge still didn't help the pain of losing him. Even after reset when her selective mutism was gone she still didn't speak much. But he was back, so that didn't matter now. She felt a little guilty that he died because of her, protecting her. She's a Suzaku Warrior, she's strong, but she has no idea how to use that strength, no idea how to act like a proper warrior. Having no idea how to fight. While Tasuki was dead she thought about finding someone to teach her, then maybe she could help Tasuki in the fighting next time. Yes, that seemed like a good idea ( ... )

Tasuki's definitely not asleep. Sleep seems determined to flutter out of his reach. When the door opens he tenses but as soon as he realizes it's Rei he relaxes again, nudging the pillow he'd been clinging to out of the way. A smile pulls at his lips as she tries to move so quietly. Then she's crawling into the bed next to him and he puts one arm around her, tugging her close. Warm and comforting and, most importantly, here and safe.

He gives her a light squeeze then tips his head down to say softly against her hair, "Ya l'il sneak."

She blinks when he moves, since she thought he would be asleep by now. Of course, she's awake, so there's the same chance that he would be... There is half a second of worry that he'll tell her to leave and go back to her room, but that thought is gone as quickly as it came since he wraps a warm arm around her. Yup, Tasuki's still here.

She doesn't have a response to his comment, she just smiles at it, and maybe gives a tiny and soft giggle.

Kankuro'd only had one night of real sleep once reset hit and his insomnia evaporated, but once again he found himself tossing and turning restlessly in an otherwise empty bed. Part of it was simple discomfort -- he was injured, and while he'd given himself a slight dose of one of the goodies he'd liberated from an unattended but well-stocked chemist's, he wasn't willing to risk his mental state enough to take more than a very mild, diluted draught ( ... )

Tasuki had almost begun to drift off... comforted by Reishun's presence but at the same the very reassurance of it nagged him with worry. He'd said he would sleep alone so he didn't have to chose. Would Kan be upset with him come morning?

He started to sigh again but just managed to stop himself. He didn't want to disturb Rei who seemed so content where she was. The effort of swallowing that sigh was wasted though because the door opened and he tensed, the arm around Rei tightening. It took him a moment, in the darkness, to realize it was Kankuro. He relaxed his grip on Rei.

Then the ninja stepped back, trying to fade back into the shadows, and Tasuki made a quiet sound in his throat, something akin to panic making him try to sit up, one hand lifting as if through will alone he could force the other man to stay. Too many hours going through "what if"s and worries to let Kankuro just walk away from him for anything.

"Kan..." It's a whisper but there's a harsh edge to it.

Reishun was very content with where she was, and was half asleep when Kankuro peeked in. She would have remained almost asleep and happily unaware of his presence if Tasuki had not moved. She just felt Tasuki's arm tightening around her. She shifted a little, slightly more awake now, and of course she didn't mind, since it made her feel more safe than anything else. But then she heard what he whispered. Really, Kankuro was there? She could have groaned. Why was he here? Of course she could answer he own question is she tried or cared too, which she was too tired to.

She slinks down further under the covers, pulling them over her head, mumbling 'whatever.' It's obvious that Tasuki at least really wants Kankuro to stay, and as long as they didn't do any gross mushy stuff, she supposed she would be tolerable and wouldn't put up a fight. And Kankuro had saved her, after all.

He hadn't intended to wake Tasuki; Kankuro flinched just a little as Tasuki reached out to him, then offered an apologetic little smile. "Didn't mean to wake you, babe," he whispered in return. "Just... making sure you're all right. Go back to sleep."

Reishun was there with Tasuki -- and he needed his time with her, with the little girl who was so precious to him.

But at the same time, he tarried -- he didn't want to leave, even if by all rights he shouldn't have been intruding. Just... looking at them. Tasuki and Reishun, the man he loved and the child his beloved cherished.
