Who: Officially: All ShinRa employees --- Unofficially: Anyone else, especially Remnants, Zack and Cloud When: Saturday morning Where: Cafeteria Summary: Breakfast ShinRa style Rating: PG at most, just to be safe Warnings: none.
Belatedly, there came the sound of heavy footsteps resounding speedily one after the other down the corridor. There was a screeching sound as Zack slowed to a halt outside the cafeteria and then jogged his way in.
"Sorry!" he said apologetically, "I kinda got lost. Reno, you jerk, you should've sent me a map."
He reached over and picked up a food bar, breaking off a bit of it in his mouth and chewing on it before taking a position slightly close to Cloud.
Reno looked up from his snitching of an energy bar. Traditionally food was for after the meeting, but Rufus seemed not to be looking.
"Oh, like I know the layout of this place any better than you! Besides, all you had to do was follow Cloud. Isn't that what you're best at?" he asked, a sly, challenging grin sweeping across his face.
"'ey, what're 'ou implyin'?" Zack said indignantly, thankfully not spraying any of the food he had in his mouth. He broke a small bit of his food bar off and tossed it at Reno's arm as he swallowed. "I was a first-class and you know it!"
He took another bite. "'Sides, don't you Turks generally know everything about everything?"
Grinning, Reno returned fire and hit Zack right between the eyes. "We do know everything. I was just testing you," he said, cramming a piece too big for his mouth into it.
"AND as someone who knows everything, I was implying you're little secret about Cloud ain't no secret, pal."
Rude was not an easy man to disquiet. Then again, the Facility could easily shake anyone up. Cold, logical resolve helped, and at times that was not always enough, but as Tseng was a firm believer of-- something out of nothing out of nothing.
In a way, this was a strange comfort.
He wasn't a leader, and often times could not always see Reno as one, knowing him for so long, and finally having some direction... Certainly better than nothing.
But the Remnants? Zack Fair, he was accustomed to. But there were some issues here that Rude didn't exactly agree with.
But he knew better than to mention it. He was that watchful eye in the corner of the room once he managed into the cafeteria, ready for anything to happen, and the man's arms were folded carefully over his chest.
The moment he caught sight of his tall, silent partner, Reno leaped up and rushed to his side. Never mind that by his own time he had seen Rude only a few days prior. Something about this place made even that seem like an eternity. "RUDIE! Partner! Holy, am I glad to see you!"
'Rudie'? Oh, for the love of... Sure, this was all on a certain level of confusing, but it... really was good to see Reno again. It seemed like a constant on-off sort of thing around here.
Coughing slightly at the 'nickname' and shifting his weight, Rude unfolded his arms. He wouldn't disagree that it felt like an eternity, either. But what could you do.
"Reno," the bald Turk offered in favor of a greeting. They were here for business, after all.
Maybe the on-off was just another of the experiments in this place trying to break the big man down. Either way, Reno was here now. Fully engaged in trying to start a food fight with Zack.
Sorry I didn't track this better! *blush*rufuselfDecember 17 2009, 20:46:09 UTC
"All right, children, let's get started here, shall we?" Rufus called out, after clearing his throat significantly. "Reno, quit with the food fighting. Cloud, can you and your... brothers find seats? I have some data to share with all of you, so please get your faciliberries ready to receive a file."
He panned through files on his own unit until he found the one explaining the ins and outs of the Facility, with his own appended annotations....

At least until Rufus called the meeting to order.
