There was a thump and Shikamaru awoke, groaning quietly as he slowly floated back to reality. His head ached and he couldn't move properly, and it was as he was beginning to shift around that everything suddenly came rushing back to him.

Madara having his powers, Hidan in the hallway, and... shit.

Dark eyes shot open, darting back and forth behind his loose hair to take in the surroundings, heart plummeting as he realized his position... no, their position. Chouji, Ino, and even Kouichi? How-?...

The Nara's mind was in a panic, synapses firing like never before as he tried desperately to pull the pieces of their situation together, automatically calculating their chances of escape. No chakra, no weapons, and an S-class missing-nin barely ten feet away. An S-class nin with a grudge...

It didn't take a genius to see how this situation would end.

It didn't take long for Ino to flutter her eyes open, groaning from the intense pounding of her head. When she was about to rub her aching head, she found that her hands were tied behind her back, startling her into widening her blue eyes.

"What's going on?" She mumbled as she struggled against her bonds. Another thing that she noticed was her hair let loose, falling down on her face like a yellow curtain.

The kunoichi checked her surroundings. Shikamaru? Chouji? And Kouichi? What was... and then it hit her. Madara. Hidan and then that blow. Panicking a little, she struggled again and looked over at the shadow nin.

"Shikamaru!"

Shikamaru frowned, resisting the urge to shush Ino when she called out his name. It wasn't as if they could hide from Hidan, but the basic instinct was still there. The genin inside him wanted very much to curl up in a closet somewhere and wait for the whole ordeal to just be over with.

He turned his head to the kunoichi beside him, squinting through his hair with a pained, worried expression.

Ino. He was going to watch Ino die if they didn't find a way out of this. He knew it.

The first thing that Kouichi was aware of was the pain in his twisted torso; the mysterious wounds on his chest stretching and threatening to break open again. Second was a metallic taste in his mouth. He must have bit the inside of his lip when someone had struck him in the back of the head-

Crimson eyes shot open and he gasped, groggily struggling to get a bearing on his surroundings. Animal instincts took over and the shinobi struggled against whatever was binding him mindlessly. There near him... voices. Ino and Shikamaru. He stopped, his panicking, not-quite-bird-heart in his throat.

"W-what the hell's going on?" He looked at them each in turn, noticing a third body nearby. Was that Chouji? He hadn't really met him in person yet. The blood in his veins ran cold as he noticed the other person in the room. Hidan. He'd been warned against him.

Hidan had disappeared into the other room, re-emerging as he brushed the dust out of his hair, and off his cloak. "Some kind of structural integrity they have here, seriously." It was too bad this would likely be fixed come the next reset. He was almost fond of the idea of more room in order to do what he wished.

The sound of movement, followed not long after by the sound of Ino's voice, drew Hidan back toward his room. Three of them had come to, and red eyes noted which one was still unconscious. "Rise and shine," he said, sounding almost cheery. "We've got a busy day ahead of us ( ... )
