Perhaps he should have been twisted up in anxious knots over Kurama's little taste of intrigue. He should have been flustered and pacing over his partner's insistence on being oh so mysterious, and fretting over all the possibilities of things the kitsune was keeping from him, the wall of secret being built brick by brick.

And yet the bat was none of those things. He'd snorted and smiled behind his fingers at it all, dropped the faciliberry into one of the bedside table drawers, and rolled over with a yawn. When Kurama came pushing through his door the bat was sprawled out, limbs stretched sleek as a cat's across the sheets. Like they were silk instead of that abrasive cotton.

At the sound of the redhead's voice the figure stretched a bit further, murmuring, and lifted his face with a very groggy squint. The imprint of one pillow was still fresh on his cheek. He blinked sleepily, completely unembarrassed by his nudity. "Hmmn...?"

Kurama wasn't expecting his partner to still be in bed--wasn't expecting him to be without clothing. Just a flash of pale flesh and white covers, and Kurama was quickly looking in a different direction.

He refused to back out of the room, though. He was comfortable enough with Kuronue that he didn't mind the nudity. The only problem was his human sensibilities that just couldn't look at it without triggering a flash of red across his cheeks. The reaction was so built into his system by this point that he couldn't stop himself, even if he tried.

Well, maybe if he tried. But Kuronue would probably get a good laugh at him first, and his pride would have none of that.

Closing the door behind him, Kurama entered the room and approached the bed. As he passed, he grabbed a handful of sheets and yanked them up over Kuronue's nude form, past his waist.

"Cute. I tell you that I'm coming over, and you go back to sleep. You certainly have a way of greeting people." He smiled, leaning against the desk.

"Di'n much expect you to show up so soon," Kuronue spoke around a yawn, fangs flashing briefly sharp and white. He shifted loose and boneless in the easy way of someone who was waking up at their own speed, as unhurried as molassas. True, he'd eventually have to get up for the kitsune and make a play at being awake when his body was telling him the sun was still up - an impossibility here at the Facility - but not just yet.

"Welcome to join me," he offered, and extended an arm with a warm sleepy smile. Wrapped up just enough for modesty's sake in those sheets, he looked comfortable and at ease with the world. All the doctors and the consortium couldn't touch him, none of it mattered.

"And if I did, you would never get up," Kurama pointed out, still smiling. He knew his partner well enough. Such a clever ploy to stay in bed and avoid getting up. But being in the same room as his partner was easing his tension ever so slightly, so he didn't really care. It was hard to believe that Kuronue could disappear again when he was laying right there within arm's reach.

With a sigh, Kurama gave in and accepted his offer, kicking off his shoes so he could crawl onto the bed next to the warm body. As much as he would have liked to deny it, he was shaken up by what he had read. So many things were going wrong before he came here. Yusuke, gone. Kuwabara and Hiei, likely gone. The whole human world, to think about it...

Kurama curled close to Kuronue, shoving the thought out of his mind. Not now. He couldn't think about that when there was nothing he could do. All he could do for at the moment was see that this person didn't disappear as well.
