"A trick?" Kurama scoffed, his eyes narrowing in annoyance. This was getting tedious. If it wasn't Kuronue that he was trying to convince, he would have walked away right then and there, but damn if he didn't want his partner to know the truth.

"Then, is this a trick, as well?" he asked, holding his arm out to Kuronue, palm facing up. Slithering like a snake, a vine emerged from the base of Kurama's neck, beneath his silver hair. It wound it's way down his arm to his palm, where a small blue bud formed. The flower's long petals unfurled as it blossomed, and a tiny bulb peeked out to snap at a few drifting specks of ash.

"Do you really think that I'm capable of reading minds and creating illusions and controlling plants, and yet you had to save me from falling off a building?" He paused, his expression conveying exactly how stupid he thought that was.

"I don't really care if you over-estimate me or under-estimate me, Kuro, but at least pick one and stick with it."

"... could be an illusion still," Kuronue protested faintly, but it was weakening in the face of Kurama being ... well, Kurama. He inched forward, wary and unnerved, and finally looked away from the kitsune's face to focus on that little flower. It was bristling its leaves at him, petals flared wide, and snapping tiny teeth his way ( ... )

"Your kitsune?" Kurama echoed, relaxing and easing into a smirk. It was about time he came around. He watched as Kuronue approached to test the flower, but it would be a cold day in hell when Kurama ever let one of his plants harm his partner. At the most, the thing lifted it's 'chin' a bit, then made a short rasping yip and nipped playfully at the bat's fingertips.

"We were partners, but belonging to you?" the kitsune teased, mocking the other demon with a grin. "That part must have slipped my mind."

Kuronue cracked a weak grin at that. The plants had never really creeped him out, they were just part and parcel of having Kurama around. He was used to them being a bit ... bigger, but this one was kinda cute. He wiggled a clawed fingertip just out of reach and watched it stretch up to snap at him, snickering under his breath, then finally looked up.

"... semantics, 'rama."

He tweaked the little flower under its 'chin' again, then dropped his own away, his eyes wide and still guarded but for very different reasons altogether. "Hey," he greeted finally, soft and uncertain, then flinched and flicked a quick look to the side when something thumped loud enough to shudder the ground underfoot.

"Sorry about the suspicion 'n all but this place... not much is what it seems to be."
