Camp Fire

Who: Simon, Usagi, Mewtwo OPEN (anyone wanting a break from scroll hunts!)
When: Wednesday of week 2 at Hope's End
Where: A campfire behind the church
Summary: Simon sets up a campfire and some snacks and settles down hoping somebody might join him for a campfire party in this western environment.
Rating: PG-13

Usagi bounded down the street from the Mayor's House, breathing in the crisp, night air. She shivered with a giggle as she wrapped a thin, woolen blanket tighter around her shoulders. Swinging a canvas bag by her side, she couldn't wait to share the strawberry preserves and cracker tins she found with her new friend.

Rounding the church--which had gaping, crumbling holes she didn't remember seeing before--she spotted Simon and waved. "Hi! Sorry to keep you waiting! Samus told me to be careful, so I had to figure something out first."

Mewtwo was standing atop a building nearby, throwing only the most casual of glances in the direction of the fire. However, when he saw the young girl, his attention was piqued. He had remembered how earlier in the week she had mentioned having a scroll, something he required.

He cocked his head slightly as he watched through half-lidded eyes, contemplating on joining the duo, though with the intention of perusing the girl's thoughts, in an attempt to see if she had the scrolls with her, and if not, where.

"You came," Simon smiled, waving back. "Hullo. Don't worry you didn't keep me waiting. It's a nice night isn't it?"
Simon looked up at the cloudless sky, a million stars winked at him - it was so beautiful his breath caught in his throat.
"I got some snacks, I didn't want to take to much but there are some. I didn't really know if anyone would turn up and it would have been a waste if nobody showed. I'm glad you're here though."
Simon adjusted the fox cub in his lap and shuffled up to make space for Usagi in front of the fire. "Oh, I wonder if anyone else will come," he wondered, aloud.

"Yes, it is!" chirped Usagi, finding a spot next to Simon and flopping on the ground. She followed the direction of his gaze to the night sky, and smiled at all the stars. For a moment, she imagined they were on an ordinary camping trip back home, not in an alien desert. She could almost see Rei-chan bringing out yams to roast on the fire, and everyone--even Minako-chan--laughing together.

"Yeah, I hope so," she said softly. Then, she glanced down at the fox. "Uwah! So cute! Where did you find him?"
