[He looks solemn as the feed flicks on. Behind him the park on level four can be seen.]Tonight there's going to be a memorial service for the hundred and three staff members who were killed last week. I don't care what your opinions are on what happened to them, if you want to come then you're welcome. All that matters is that they're gone and ( Read more... )

[He waits until Sora turns the feed off, then touches a tentative hand to the boy's shoulder. He's a little... almost hesitant -- Sora came back, but they didn't really have much time together before the mayhem happened. Now, he's not sure how to handle himself. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to let him know he's proud of him, though.]

... You did a good thing.

[He's a tiny bit tense because he's sure that people will come cause trouble. It doesn't ease when he feels Riku's hand on his shoulder. Sora looks up at Riku, smiling a little.]

Thanks. I wanted to do something for them.

[His hand moves to the boy's skull, ruffling the spikes there for a moment. He's not oblivious to Sora's current state -- in fact, he's acutely aware of it. Every part of the boy radiates tension -- his scent and the set of his body and the clear blue of his eyes.]

This was the right thing, I think. ... You know I'll help you with it, right?

[The ruffling is a soothing action so he doesn't even try to brush it off. He feels guilty. So very, very, very guilty about the people he couldn't save. He'd been right there but no matter how much he fought it didn't make a difference.]

You don't need to help. Lavi's gonna help and he needs this as much as I do. Just...just stay there with me.

I'll help toss people out if need be, Sora.

Thanks Lavi. I'll need some help with the memorial too if you wanna do that too.

[He knows. They need things to do, to keep busy.]

Of course, yeah? Promised I would.

[Moving helped keep him occupied today.]

The thing's pretty big and it's down in the level five workshop right now.

[Keeping busy means less time to think about what happened.]

Uh, what counts as causing trouble?

[Does gleefully recounting how she drove various people insane, fed them to her demon dogs, and plans on turning their bones into musical instruments and wind chimes count?]

Anything that might upset the mourners.

[So yes, that counts as causing trouble.]

[Aw, man.]

Alright, then. I'll stay behind.

[Call her if you want any wind chimes, though.]

[He nods.]

Thank you.

[And Sora means that too.]

That sounds like quite a few different groups you want to attend this event. I'm concerned that between the groups, a fight might be inevitable.

I fully support mourning their loss, but I'm hoping that the mourning won't turn into a declaration about how we're all horrible people because they died.

I just wanted everyone to know that they were welcome to come, even those who had to kill in order to survive. If a fight starts then those people will be removed from the park.

Do you feel horrible just because someone said that? Because how you feel is all that matters.

[You had to ask how she felt, didn't you? So... There's a fairly lengthy pause before a response. And even then it's more confused and hesitant than anything else.]

I... was made for the purpose of doing things that humans were unwilling or unable to do. Part of that comes with being judged by them as well, regardless of my own will and intent.

[Does... that answer your question?]

[He doesn't seem mad or angry about what she said.]

I think all of us did something that someone could judge them for, no matter what side they took. People who wanted to protect the staff will probably be judged for why they were fighting for the people who torture us.

Yeah, I think so too. Some sense of closure, I guess.
