Hope's End Guest Post: Day 4

Welcome to Day 4 of Hope’s End! This is where guest writers can have their characters post to the network. These posts will be handled the same way as any other post to the network, but we'll keep them grouped together for everyone's sanity.

Ne, ne, it's all dusty and sandy like a beach but there's no water! [The video is a little shaky, like the person carrying the 'berry is swinging their arms while walking, but after a bit of skipping around, the user finally brings it up to their face - their tiny, flushed, big-eyed, childish face, framed by cotton candy colored hair. She has on a too-big cowboy hat, tilted off her face a bit, and she's dragging a sword in a pink sheath behind her; don't get too excited, her collar is cotton candy pink.]

I have my phone thingy from the white place but this isn't the white place, s'goin' on? [A sudden pout.] I have sand in my socks. This place isn't very fun.

[Someone is positively overjoyed to see you. Hope you don't get motion sick because the video is bouncing with her.]

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure I understand- [he fumbles with the phone, clearing his throat nervously, and he swallows hard enough that it's audible.] I can't recall coming here, but I was told I should call for help, but there was only one button..

..I don't have time for this!

[The name that comes across the screen of the reply is Alex Shepherd. Mohinder's 'borrowed' his current roommate's mobile after he crushed his own. Whoops. Still. He knows the voice. Obviously. He's listened to it since uni on recordings when he's done clinical trials or other research work.]

You need to hide.

[wait a bleeding second, that's his voice. that's his own voice. he splutters.]

..Excuse me? Who is this?

I don't suppose anyone's seen Kenzi around, have they?

She gets a little troublesome when she drinks. Probably best to leave her be.

[Look who's shaking the 'berry around and frantically yelling into it...and it looks like he might be crying.]

I knew this would happen! I knew it! Just when I thought I was safe again, here I am!

NOT THE COWBOY UNIVERSE AGAIN! ANYTHING BUT THIS!

I bet the cowboy version of me has already been killing people and stealing their cowboy hats! [Now he's obviously sobbing. Hoo boy.]

[After a bit of destruction in one of the abandoned houses - it's hard being a giant crab monster with some anger issues, alright, but at least most of it was accidental - this lusus happened upon a communicator and, after a bit of mashing, managed to turn it on. Not that the monster really knows what it's doing, of course, but it looks kind of like those computer things its ward uses so it will try doing something with it anyway! Of course that "something" is mostly holding it in one pincer and waving it around while making angry noises, but at least it's something! Man, what is with all these monsters that can't talk making videos the past few days?]

ACTION

[Okay, well, first off, fuck trying to reason with him over the network because that's a losing battle. Karkat has been here long enough to recognize where the crab monster is. After some searching, he spots him down one of the streets.]

[Then he freezes with big wide eyes and the pure expression of a child who hasn't seen their parent in far too long.]

[Then he rushes forward to intervene, taking a simple grey sickle from his sylladex just in gaze. He knows how it goes when his lusus gets grumpy.]

Hey! Stop that!

[He carefully runs up to his side, gently slapping one of those big pinches with his hand. To get his attention more than anything else.]

[To his credit, the lusus does stop and turn when he hears Karkat's voice, although of course that doesn't mean that he's by any means calm. He doesn't do much more than screech and raise his claws again at the troll, though; much of his current mood can be attributed to the strangeness of the situation, and even to a giant crab monster it can be comforting to see a friendly face! But Karkat definitely has his attention now, at any rate, even if the crab is still very much on edge and feeling... well, crabby.]

ACTION

Shhhhh.

[He keeps his sickle carefully in hand as he does it, mostly to avoid getting a face full of claw if something startles his lusus.]

Chill out. It's okay. [He keeps his hand on the top of one of his claws, loosely trying to hold it still. Less flailing around would be great.] Fuck, where the hell did you even come from?
