This week will make my New Year's resolution to meet new people a little hard, I think. Maybe I should postpone it a little. Or does working on resolutions have to start right on New Year's Day?

Happy New Year to everyone even so.

[He opens the door cautiously -- he's realized the experiment's effect by now, of course, but he recognizes her scent well. It's either Kairi or Naminé, and he'll be able to pinpoint it when she speaks. He steps aside for her to enter, wondering what it is she's brought.]

... I... you didn't have to bring anything.

[For Nami's part, Riku is relatively easy to tell apart from the other Facilitarians (and even Mera), all the more so when she knows she's going to his room. She only pauses briefly to look at him more clearly before smiling.]

I wanted to.

[She lifts up the paper star garland to him.]

Happy New Year.

... you too.

[He takes it, holding it delicately so he doesn't hurt it. She's always so amazing that way -- she can do things so easily.]

... Oh, I...

[He moves to the desk, pulls open the drawer. Inside is a small sketchbook and pen, with a little ribbon tied carefully around the pair.]

I... wanted to get everyone things. But I haven't been able to drop them off yet, so...

It's okay.

[And even without seeing what it is, she pulls him into a tight hug.]

Thank you.

Things don't stay like this for long, do they? If it's just a week, that shouldn't put too much of a dent in your resolution. You have the entire year.

That's true. I just wasn't sure about the etiquette of it.

Hm... I don't think there's any sort of "etiquette" for resolutions. Though most people think it's in bad taste to give up on it too early.

I'll be sure not to, then. It's not a hard resolution to keep, after all.

I could start on it right now, in fact! I'm Naminé, what's your name?

A New Year's resolution is something you want to work on throughout the whole year. It's supposed to help improve your life by the end of the next year. So holding off on starting until next week isn't really a big deal.

Thank you for the sculpture, by the way. It's pretty.

Oh, I see. I almost had it right.

You're welcome! I'm glad you like it. I had fun making them.

You were close.

It's a nice gift. [It's sitting on her desk right now] How're you doing so far this week?

I'm fine. I got a chance to talk to my other friends, so they aren't upset about my being terminated anymore.

Dont die? [he shrugs] seems to be my popular one every year. Only broke it a couple times.

...New Years Resolution...?

Naminé, what's that?

It's a promise to yourself at the beginning of the year to try and do something that will make your life better. Kairi used to make lots of them.

[Xi cocks an eyebrow.] Why do you only have to do that at the new year?

Can't we just make resolutions all the time?

I was wondering the same thing. But I think it has something to do with the new year, and how it's like...a chance for a new beginning, for some people.
