[The feed turns on completely on purpose, a poised, lovely woman gazing at the camera.]

If anyone is receiving this wave, I’m Inara Serra. I believe I’ve been taken hostage and I require assistance. I can provide compensation for your efforts.

If my captors can hear this, there is nothing to be gained from silence. Make your demands known, I am ( Read more... )

. . .

I apologize, but I don't know where I am. The last I remember I was on a different ship. If you'll direct me to the exit, I will leave immediately.

It's too late for that. You've seen too much already.

I've seen a room with no decorations or distinguishing features. I don't see how that could be 'too much'.

I'm afraid they're not interested in compensation, as near as I can tell, and probably won't speak to you, either.

So much for hoping for reason. What are they interested in, then? Are you also being held prisoner?

flytey December 26 2011, 00:10:47 UTC
Indeed. We're all prisoners here. They do experiments on us. It's as dreadful as it sounds.

Experiments? Is this an Alliance facility?

You're not actually being held hostage. It's more like you've been kidnapped but it's not for the reason you think. The people in charge aren't looking for a ransom or anything like that.

I appreciate the information. Why am I being held, if not for ransom? The Alliance has no warrants against me or any grounds to hold me.

I'd like to give you a good reason for this crap but there isn't one. Basically, you're in a torture facility in space to be an experiment. We don't know why, except maybe for the entertainment of the crazy people watching us. Oh and any powers you might have are being limited by the thing around your neck. [She tags her own blue collar to demonstrate]

[She runs her fingers around the collar resting above her necklace.]

I don't have any . . . powers. [Everyone here is crazy. Great.]

Do you know what system the station is in? My friends tend to travel the uninhabited parts of space, they may still be within range. Assuming I was not unconscious for weeks.

I have, thank you. Not that I'm finding it easy to believe.

You'll find that most things here, though difficult to believe, are usually true.

So you believe that the people here are from multiple universes, and that we have been brought from different times to be tortured?

[Dammit.

Damsel in distress. No, Harry. Resist, come on, you can....

Harry's look turns more concerned than exhausted as his mental soundscape becomes dominated by a heroic whinny and the sound of galloping hooves]

Excuse me, miss, but have you been filled in yet?

If you mean receiving the information on this place, yes.

If you mean believing that this is anything outside of two scenarios, both centered around insanity? Not really.

Well I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask what it would take to rule out the insanity theories. The reality of this place tends to hit people hard and fast if they hang on to those kinds of thoughts too long.

D'you have magic where you're from? Tends to sober people up a bit.

The funny thing about insanity is that the ones claiming that they're completely sane are usually the ones furthest from it.

No, there's no magic.
