twelfth incision ෴ text

Before we all die of this mysterious illness, I figure I should come out and ask: Who is it that keeps breaking things every week? I don't even need to check the time anymore because I can tell the difference between "hearing explosions" and "not hearing explosions" to note when the week is over.

Does anyone want to attempt to explain the point ( Read more... )

Pretty sure it's to give the interns extra work at reset. Dunno who does it though.

It's a little pointless if they manage to fix it up perfectly anyway. All it does it create extra work for the people doing it.

Yeah, but again, kinda the point. Might just piss them off more, so it could backfire.

Oh yes, let's all do what we can to piss off the people keeping us captive and with the ability to make us do everything from switch genders and dance around in our underwear to kill our friends and eat babies. Brilliant plan, really.

I wanna know that too.

Interrupting your beauty sleep too, is it?

Not really. I'm just curious as to why they do it and who it is.

Well from what I've gleaned, the why is a mix of trying to make them use more money and annoy them and make them feel like we're too much work to keep. The who is a bit better under wraps, probably for good reason.

I believe the idea was to increase operating costs for the facility by doing as much damage as possible, but without disrupting our own lives?

Maybe I'm just being nitpicky, but doesn't all this destruction every week make the people who do this tired? It would almost be smarter to hold off on all this until we can stage a full-scale rebellion and escape, both to keep energy levels up and to not give the Consortium a sneak-peak at people's abilities.

The Consortium have the ability to manipulate and alter time. It's practically guaranteed that they already knew what we were capable of before they brought us here. A large-scale rebellion is a possibility, but it won't be effective for an escape, because this place is set up to seal itself off as soon as we have access to any other areas than this. Thus, any large-scale invasions will require an emphasis on those more inclined towards technological knowledge and interrogation skills rather than simply breaking things.

I don't really people getting tired from dealing damage is that big of a deal, though. I mean, it's probably an optional thing. I'm sure that most people don't do it every week. Come to think of it, it would probably be more efficient to only have several groups who do it, switching on and off every week, though.

You've thought a great deal about this, I have a feeling.

I like your idea about doing a rotation though. Maybe you should bring that up with our friendly neighborhood rebel forces.

It's done to make the interns mad, basically.

Oh yes, brilliant plan. Let's make the people controlling our lives angry. I've learned from personal experience what a terrible idea that is, hence why I've been so careful to not dissect any of your friends again. Not that I'm saying we should be completely compliant to the interns' whims, but it's a lot easier to escape if they were to not expect us to escape.

[And what a good job you're doing not dissecting people she likes. 83 Good boy, Stein.]

I don't think the interns really have any power. They just make fun of us once a week.

And I think it's good for the really violent people to take it out on the furniture than each other.

[Snort] They have a shocking amount of power doing that based on people's reactions to some of those observations. Myself included, admittedly.

And you're right, I'd much rather the rec room take the brunt of the damage than a person. I can do a lot, but I doubt I could patch that up.

We do it to give them extra work, silly boy. It's a bit cathartic, too.

[Did Stein hear lasers? That was her and Patchy.]

I'm sure it does make you feel a bit better, but my god it's so loud. And isn't it exhausting doing whatever part you play in all the destruction? With the collars on, I know some people are limited in how often they can use their abilities.

[She giggles.] Nope, not really. At least not for me. Danmaku isn't really that physically exhausting ~

Which one is Danmaku? The wind or the explosions or the lasers? Pardon my curiosity, but I'm fascinated by your abilities.
