XX4: Another Innocent's Departure // Sephiroth

Nov 08, 2009 00:04

[The feed turns on revealing a dimly lit room what looks like a small, seemingly abandoned apartment. Horizontal blinds broken and bent in random spots cover the windows in the background; there are hardly any furnishings to be seen save for a worn wooden chair or two. Slightly out of focus on the right side of the screen is a boy. Bleeding ( Read more... )

[After the initial horrifying shock which lasted all of two seconds, a liftetime to someone like him, Ichiru's words finally penetrate the haze his mind put him in on seeing that scene play out.

Zero abandoned me... I'm useless....

Those same words as before, they broke something inside of him, but not as much as seeing that sword pierce the small body of his twin body... see it sever his spine.

And the last words was the finishing blow, it hit him harder than if he'd been stabbed through the heart.

Know now that your brother is to blame... for everything.

It was...

....

...

the same as before.

... he had killed his brother again.

And then the guilt and anguish. It was so strong it nearly knocked him off his feet.]

[Overwhelming pain churned within him, slowly turning Dark.

Ebony.

Foreboding.

Livid.

His emotions quickly escalated, reaching their boiling point.

Control.

He was always in control. He had to be.

And yet...]

Ichiru!

[A single name roared in the dead of night.

An animal crying out for its lost kin.

The name still echoed in the wind even as the creature disappeared from the spot. Using everything in its power to reach a small little creature who meant the world to him.

Blood. Ichiru's blood. He tracked him down by scent alone, his mind awash with guilt, grief, and an overwhelming anguish something like him had no right to feel, but it still tore through his heart ripping it apart like nothing else ever could for what better way to destroy something than from the inside out.]

[Cloud knew he'd be too late, but that didn't keep him from crashing through the closest window as fast as his mako-enhanced, materia-enhanced, Jedi-enhanced speed could get him there. He started wasting a powerful healing spell before his feet hit the ground, his left forearm glowing a warm green.]

Ichiru... Say something. Please.

[It was too late. Ichiru had drew his last shuddering breath before the crash had even occurred. He had died thinking no one but Sephiroth cared for him. The boy was even silent over the mental communication. His eyes were open and lifeless.]

[He was there before it was humanly possible. The scent of his brother's blood easy to track. It was overwhelming. He had lost too much blood, more than such a small body could contain.

He was racing through the streets, an invisible blur and when he was close enough to catch his heartbeat, he listened intently.Iit was slow, too slow... it remained so for another few seconds before... deafening silence.

By the time he got there tears were already streaming down his cheeks, his knees giving out as as he reached the small boy. He reached for the lifeless body, pulling it to him, blood smearing him.

Grief.

A grieving beast always reverted back to instincts. Instincts to keep close to the body even though it was no longer alive. Instincts...

Blood. It was everywhere. It surrounded him. Instincts... a grieving vampire's bloodlust... was overwhelming.

He held him close, the blood getting all over him, and he had to fight to keep from tasting that blood he remembered so well.

He held him close. Mouth tightly shut.]

He's... not...

[With a vicious scowl, Cloud snapped his left hand out toward the dead child again, draining most of his remaining reserves of mana to cast another completely worthless, massively-overpowered healing spell.]

NO.

[Sephiroth revealed the outpour of Ichiru's emotions--the boy had gone to the former General of his own volition. He'd just done him a favor.]
