I have the power!!! (to put the record straight)

ETA: I'm making this public, because I didn't think it right to lock a response to something that was public. But I have left out names for a reason, and my guess is that more than half the people on my regular F-list have no idea what this is about. My feeling here is that my misrepresenter has a right to know that I've said this, but I also was ( Read more... )

rants, things that piss me off, wankery, sf/f

I think more and more people are reaching the conclusion that: not an Empress. Or clad.

Someone's got to be the bad guy, though, otherwise it's too hardmto maintain the status of victim, and entitlement's what it's all about. Sorry you've been dumped on, though.

she didn't use my name, but it pisses me off just the same.

your misrepresenter did seem to be conflating comments by three people into one, so i suspect she would attribute the above to the owner of the journal you were both replying to. not that this excuses anything.

well, that's really the root of the problem, isn't it? Careful reading is important. Or at least it is if you genuinely don't want to be surrounded by drama.

Wow. I've been reading up on some of the background on this all afternoon and I'm now feeling a little dirty.

The more of this I'm reading, the more like the Class Warrior nonsense I'd see at university it becomes. Where you end up with variation factions of left wing group fight to the death while everybody else looks on in bemused horror.

The more of this I read, the more I come around to the concept that the instigator is nothing more than a clever type of Troll out of the Anne Coulter/Russ Limbaugh mold who likes to see the pretty explosions of saying outrageous things to their fans.

If one of their fans does something really bad, it's never them or the rhetoric, it's always somebody elses fault.

sadly, there are too many people who behave that way. Most of them, fortunately, do not become famous enough to cause trouble. And even in this case, it might not have. In fact, I could have attempted to be a bit more of a grown-up, except for that I have a low tolerance for people maligning me, whether or not they've used my name. As treacherous as Iago was, I am with him and Master Shakespeare (and good old-fashioned shame culture) on maintaining my reputation. I don't want to lose the respect of people I respect; if I do, I want it to be because of something I did and because I was too much of a jerk to make amends. Which, I hope, would never happen.

I'd have no idea of the context had I not seen another (differing) view of this elsewhere on my flist, and even so, it took an hour after reading LJ and getting up to do something else before I put the two together. Not clicking over to the post in question....
