I love dim sum as well and usually grab too many dishes as they get brought around cause I want one of all of them. I didn't even touch the shrimp har gow or any of the shiu mai plates. And, I'm always torn between the steamed or baked bbq'd pork buns. And then there are the egg tarts. My nephew likes the mango jello squares. And the shrimp wrapped in bacon. I'm making myself hungry just thinking about it. :)
Chicken feet certainly messy to eat and you're basically eating the skin off the bones. And trying to avoid swallowing the bones as you do so. :) Still, every once in a while, they're a treat.
I'm more likely to have them at the AYCE chinese buffet place where I only take one or two at most. No one else usually wants them when we go out for dim sum and I can't finish the entire plate by myself.
I definitely ate a few bones last time. I enjoyed the taste, but I don't even find chicken wings worth the trouble, and this is a whole new level of tedium. LOL.
My favorites are always steamed BBQ buns, custard buns, and random noodle dishes.
Love dim sum. When I started to date with my husband (boy friend back then), we had dim sum almost every weekend with his friends, each time with different group (to introduce me to his friends). Dim sum used to be my favorite but that time I just couldn't eat any more. Luckily my love for dim sum came back as we don't go eat dim sum as frequently as before. Those are my favorite too! =)
It's nice to rediscover these treats after having given them up for a while. Now I just have to find a good Mexican restaurant on this side of the border. :)
Everything looks fantastic! I love dim sum so much I stopped having anything else in Chinese restaurants (no mains or desserts). You are generous with tips :-) I hope you are having wonderful Easter! Sissi (http://www.withaglass.com)
Unless it's something like Peking duck with mu shu pancakes I rarely eat out at Chinese restaurants. I'd be more likely to go for the lunch AYCE buffet. :) As to the tip ... not really as 15% of $30 would only come to $4.50. An extra 50 cents isn't breaking the bank. :)
Hope your Easter was a great one. Orthodox Christians celebrate next weekend as I was reminded at the city market. My parents are Orthodox though they had us converted to Roman Catholicism so we could attend a Catholic school run by nuns when we came to town.
Haha! The North-American tips ;-) Here I usually give 10% if the waiter is very nice. I only eat dim sum because this is what I consider the fussiest dishes (and also the one I love). Sissi
My nephew's tips are reflective of the service he received as well. I just give them the 15% ... especially the young servers here who are new to Canada and need to work. Although I have given less in other restaurants when the service was absolutely horrid. I have a couple of dim sum recipe books but never actually tried to make them at home. The stuffed peppers and the bbq'd pork buns though HAVE tempted me to try them.
What a great deal getting all of that food for $30. What restaurant is this, if you don't mind my asking? I just love bbq pork buns, and the ones in the photo look really great. Hope you had a good Easter. (Barb @ Profiteroles and Ponytails)
I just love Chinese food so seeing the close-ups of all the dishes you have posted has made me so hungry right now. I think tomorrow night we'd better eat Chinese! But I would abstain from the tripe and the stomach (what's the difference?) Never been a fan! xx From http://hotlyspiced.com

Chicken feet, however... they're delicious, but way difficult to eat for me. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. LOL.
