Your ham and bean soup looks yummy - it's like a lighter version of pea soup with ham - I am bookmarking the recipe for when I am back in soup mode!

Your purple bread looks like taro root bread!

I hope you enjoy it. I'm in soup mode all year round. Just click on the 'soup' tab in the post and you'll get an avelanche of posts. :)

Someone mentioned taro root bread ... all I could think of was 'poi'.

Your soup looks yummy, and I like your suggestion to use smoked turkey in place of ham. That said, I have ham, so I'm good to go!

Your bread also looks yummy, but I'm feeling too lazy to make it. Perhaps a quick bread . . . .

The bread was a fun project but not something I'd make when I need sandwich bread or hamburger/hot dog buns or rolls. For that, I've got several reliable choices but lately I've been making this one. I've made it 7 times since the first time I tried it a year ago. It's very versatile.

PS: How about a skillet corn bread? I made these in muffin tins but you can just bake the bread in an 8x8 inch glass baking dish or a cast iron skillet.
