What country/nationality's cooking, other than your own, do you enjoy?

I live in Canada and other than poutine and butter tarts, I can't really claim that I cook anything that is particularly CANADIAN. Throwing maple syrup into a dish doesn't make it Canadian, does it?

I enjoy a variety of national cuisines. This past week ... I made Chinese ( ( Read more... )

That is a very clever use for an avocado shell! The donburi looked very yummy. TBG would love your fajitas! We have about a pound of roasted pork to deal with. He wants pulled pork sandwiches tonight. I'm thinking pork tacos. It should be an interesting meal.

Great photos as always!

I was amused by the avocado shell idea even though I HAVE done it before, pus I thought they looked cute. Kind of rockin' a Mexican Santa vibe.

Pulled pork sandwiches sound great. My bought flour tortillas were a bit gummy and I kind of wish I had had taco shells around.

Sending stuff home with guests always used to work with my mom. She gave away the best stuff, it seemed. :)

Is there a recipe for the iced Thai coffee?

(I couldn't sleep without closing my tabs. *rolls eyes at self*)

Oh, and that's the prettiest poached egg I've ever seen. My poached eggs are never so nice.

Iced Thai Coffee

Make double strength coffee and let cool to room temperature. If you like cardamom, a pinch or two added to the coffee while you're brewing it is tasty.

In a tall glass, add a few ice cubes, 1-2 tbsp of sweetened condensed milk depending on how sweet you like your coffee. Pour the coffee over the ice cubes.

The cafe Bombom I posted a few posts ago is a hot version.

PS: Add vinegar to the gently simmering water, give the water a circular stir and try to gently flip the egg after a few minutes.
