Home made Pita Breads ... Sort of Fail

Jul 27, 2016 09:00

I decided to make another attempt at pita bread. For some reason, flour tortillas, naan and pita breads aren't great successes for me, but I don't give up. Especially as I'd bought a couple of packages of pork souvlaki on sale and a tub of tzatziki to eat them with.

You call it a fail, I call it damn good looking food and I bet it tasted fabulous.

I've never tried making pitas or tortillas. A tip of my hat to you!

Thank you. I've been making risotto/arancini, cannoli shells and filling and buttermilk cheddar biscuits this past week. Will post a couple of days apart so as not to overwhelm. :)

Wow, you've been cooking up a storm. I'm just hoping it will cool down a little before I have to start working on the party stuff - having the oven going for five hours is just plain hot upon hot.

I was up at 7am cooking especially when I had to deep fry to avoid the worst of the heat.

After sharing Mom's hospital food, I can't tell you how good all this looks-or how jealous I am that you can just buy souvlaki at your grocery store!

I'm so hungry. I think I might pop over to the Greek place . . . .

Hospital food IS yukky.

Marc Angelo brand souvlaki ... they're ok but I'd probably make my own next time. They were on sale, 2 skewers for 99 cents, which was half price so I thought I'd give them a try.

Thanks for the link; the brand isn't familiar, but then, it's never occurred to me to look for souvlaki! :D
