April Clear-out

May 01, 2016 10:30

I haven't done much cooking in April, certainly nothing post-worthy, but I thought I'd share some of the tasty things I made.

Barbecue meal of giant (1/3 pound) hamburgers and sausages, with mac and cheese and corn side dishes, and a Mexican beer to wash it down.

Mmmm, onion rings and mac and cheese. Some serious comfort food there. Would love to see the recipe for the orange loaf -- I'm a huge fan of orange baked goods; my biggest guilty pleasure is the Pillsbury orange cinnamon rolls that come in the little cardboard tube.

My mom was recently here for ten days and we did a lot of cooking. She showed me how to make a couple of nom-worthy things (homemade candied pecans, clafouti). In exchange I showed off my mad omelet skillz, which have become quite stellar, and made my husband's birthday cake (a family tradition handed down from his grandmother) and veggie chili, all of which were a big hit. I shall have to post about them shortly...

I found the recipe for the orange loaf here:

http://butterbasilandbreadcrumbs.com/orange-loaf-cake/

It tasted good but on sitting in the fridge, the inside of the loaf got very moist. The one in the picture looked a lot drier so I don't know what the issue was.

It sounds like you did some great cooking as well.
