Picspam - Blackberry Coulis and Vanilla Ice Cream Crepe Cup

Feb 23, 2014 20:42

Although I wasn't able to create the large crepe cup that the Food Network presented by shaping a folded crepe and baking it in a muffin cup, I WAS able to form something that was able to hold a scoop of ice cream ... sort of.

I'm intrigued and impressed by your creativity in using up every bit of things that you make/have. I'm frequently disturbed by how much food gets wasted at our house; you inspire me to try harder to find ways to use up the "bits and bobs" we have left.

My mom used to make something she called "bastard chicken" which was basically chicken and whatever else we had in the fridge sauteed up together :)

Thank you. I bet that chicken was delicious and it tasted different every time.

I was especially proud of how I used the 2 tbsp each of diced polish sausage, mushrooms and green peppers I had left over from making pizza.

They were scheduled for a Western omelette, but when I used the mushrooms in the crepe filling, I thought I was going to have to think of something else. And then I got hungry and used the last 2 eggs in my fridge and the sausage and green peppers and made the omelette after all. I toasted 2 pieces of bread, put in the omelette, squirted the last of the ketchup over it and devoured the resulting sandwich. Yu-mmy!

I just noticed that the crepe cup looks like a flower. Very artistic :)

It was supposed to sit up tall like a cup but instead it sagged, so I sort of 'encouraged' it to be round.

Oh my lord, I did not need to wake up to that! Now I am going to be craving blackberries all day...

Seriously, that looks incredibly delicious.

It didn't turn out how I expected but the dish itself was nice.

That's a really interesting way to serve crepes. You are very creative. I think blackberry crepes are sensational. What a beautiful dessert xx http:/hotlyspiced.com

Thank you. It makes a simple crepe and vanilla ice cream dish a bit more special to add the raspberry coulis and fresh raspberries to it.

What a creative idea! I would probably just eat the empty crêpe on its own ;-) Sissi (http://www.withaglass.com)

I did that too, plus with honey and then with raspberry jam. :)

What a clever idea Maria, I bet the crêpe crisped up beautifully.

It was nice and crispy but unfortunately only on top and sagged. :)
