Asparagus and creme fraiche quiche

I have made quiche over the years using everything from an aluminum cake pan to a glass pie dish but I always wondered how terrific it would look if I used a real quiche/tart pan with a removable bottom. So, I took a few dollars and made my merry way to my local dealer (kitchen supply dealer, that is ( Read more... )

Quiche is not something I've tried before, but I think I might have to add it to my list of 'must try' now.

Thanks!

Quiche ... just eggs, milk and cheese in a pie crust. What could be easier and there are so many versions, with or without meat. Give it a try, you don't need the fancy pan, a cake pan works as I wrote above and it can be square. I've even seen mini-quiches done in large muffin tins.

I know what you mean. And I'm only one person and there aren't THAT many meals to enjoy them all.

It's always so lovely getting new things for the kitchen. It puts me on a high. I love quiche too and you look so organised with all your preparation - I need to cook like that! xx http://hotlyspiced.com

Thank you for the lovely comment. I worked in a biology lab so I learned to be organized. I'm sure you manage quite well in using your own methods based on the great dishes you cook and post. :)

You will love this pan, I have a very similar one and I break it out for more than just quiche. BTW, I suffer the same addiction re kitchen store!
The recipe sounds great and by the lovely photo it sure does look like it turned out perfectly. I haven't seen Ontario asparagus as the market yet, but I'll keep my eyes peeled this weekend.

I like the pan as well but I forgot to watch the bottom when I went to refrigerate the crust and pushed up from the bottom as I curled my fingers around the edge. Ended up ruining the crust so I had to reroll it.

Shopping at the kitchen supply store is worse than being addicted to crack. There are so MANY things I want to buy.

I don't remember where the asparagus I bought came from ... we get it year around and I don't check any more. After I put it in the oven I kicked myself for not doing a crab and asparagus version with the last of the meat from my 'hairy' crab.

Thank you. I'm looking forward to using my new toys. So far, the donut cutter and the quiche pan has been utilized so I'm doing pretty well for 2 weeks since I bought them.

Perfect looking quiche! And you have found a way to use the crème fraîche too. My favourite tart dish was been ceramic with small cute geese... and I broke it (and the whole tart was of course on the floor...). Now I'm looking for a new, similarly cute, but cannot find anything, so I use a simple metal one. I have had asparagus practically every day in my fridge since it's in season and a tart was in my plans too. Thank you for reminding me. Sissi (http://www.withaglass.com)

Thank you. I was so happy to be able to use up the last of the commercial batch and now almost the last of the first batch of home cultured stuff. I have a whole NEW batch though in the fridge to deal with. :)
