A Fine Romance

I've been in "research the genre" mode of late. Read a first-person thriller, a social-commentary comedy with vampires, and a standard procedural/whodoneit. If I ever do write, it will be romances. Susan Johnson like hard core romances.

The stubbornness and continued misunderstandings always turned me off romances when I read them, even as a teen -- but there were plenty of writers who knew how to use other complications.

I've tried to read some recently and just haven't been able to get through any. Maybe I should go back and try to re-read Moonstruck Madness, my all-time favorite.

As for me, if a bodice isn't ripped, it ain't no romance!
(Okay, that's not *entirely* true, but that's where my instinct goes. . .)
