In Travis County (Austin) the District Attorney was convicted of drunk driving, disorderly conduct, and assaulting a police officer. She was allowed to keep her job -- but must "earn our trust" -- after a public suit to have her removed from office was tossed by a judge who said she hadn't done anything egregious.

I just read that 3 months earlier he was stopped for DUI and got away with that also. Meanwhile this same judge sentenced a black teenager to 10 years in jail after he hit someone who fell and then died.
Tell me how justice is color blind, I dare you.

The book "Ordinary Injustice" is a fascinating (and horrifying) look at how the poor do not get any justice in this country. The book is not a polemic and it does not poitn fu=ingers at a particular group (ie prosecutors, judges, etc.). Instead, it shows how our entire system is broken and at this point designed to throw the poor in jail whhether or not they belong there.
