Bones! some general thoughts on the show

I haven't written about Bones for a long while. I'm still watching although at this point I tend to view it as a pleasant diversion not worthy of much in the way of deep thought ( Read more... )

You've hit all of the high (ummm low?) points.

8-)

I suspect though that appealing to that LCD is what has kept the show on the air.

I gave up watching it a couple seasons ago. And for me to not watch DBo? Yeah. It annoyed me beyond reason. I loathe every single character. And the writers. Also, and kind of related to what you said about small world syndrome, it actually squicks the hell out of me how invested every single person at the lab is in Booth and Bones relationship. JFC have some fucking personal boundaries people.

The overly invested thing seems to be a staple on TV especially comedies (which is what I consider this at this point).

You reached the X-files moment as I like to call it. One day in the midst of watching the X-files, I realized that the only thing that I wanted to occur was for every character to die a painful, agonizing death. I stopped watching right that second.

I gave up on it myself. In my world, the show ended in S3 before the writer's strike and before Zack apparently lost his mind. I don't even recognize the characters in the show anymore and it was just too frustrating to watch so I stopped last season (and the rest of the family with me). It's a real shame, but they lost their direction, their gravitas and their ability to weave complex characterization with victims and cases we cared about. For me, there was no reason to watch anymore

Yeah, don't blame you.

I treat it as a light piece of fluff, certainly not in my top tier of shows. It pretty much is in the same place as Hawaii 50 for me - pretty cast, incredibly dumb show.

I gave up watching it in season 7. As far as I was concerned it had its jump the shark moment when she gave birth in a barn, if not long before.

Don't remind me of that particular stupidity. That was just awful.
