It's great to get Darla's perspective here. Interesting, isn't it, that we all thought she was a minor character...but she had all this backstory. Thanks for sharing.

It can be argued that she's the character that everything turns on.

She the creator and mentor of Angel.

Her death at Angel's hand allows Buffy to move past any misgivings she might have about him.

Her resurrection causes Angel to have a crisis of faith.

And sleeping with her allows him to finally take on his mission for only selfless reasons.

The birth of Connor can be argued as her gift of humanity to Angel.
