I'm rewatching A2A and I keep wondering how it is possible that Shaz can talk with her mum. Perhaps, I should know that by now, but I really don't. God, I feel so dumb... Can anyone help me, please?
Maybe this version of Shaz's mum is just a figment of her imagination. Kind of like how Mrs. Hunt was just Gene's lonely mind trying to keep him company.
But was she really? I know we've never seen her and Hunt never talks about her but in LOM, Chris and Ray make a comment about her getting fat or something (don't remember exactly). So, they must have seen her, right? Perhaps, she left him in the same way Sam did? The more I think about it, the more confused I am....
As for Shaz' mum, I think that you might be right. Perhaps she sees her and talks to her like Alex talks to Molly. Except Alex is still alive so she knows that Molly isn't real.
My take? The figure that Shaz believes is her mum is actually a kind of reflection of the real person, conjured from Shaz's own memories and present because Shaz knows, without doubt, that her mother should be a part of her life

Hmm - not necessarily. Most of the 'real' people - by which I mean the people who have had lives in this world before death or coma has sent them to Gene's world - are coppers. Gene's limbo/purgatory/afterlife (whatever you want to call it) is focused on helping police officers
