I've always thought of the two shows as being different threads of the same cloth, so I think it only makes sense to knit them both together as the finale approaches.
Also re: the proprietary thing: I think by now they've more than established A2A as its own show in its own right, and Keeley as the lead in her own right. But if they're going to make finding out what happened to Sam Tyler such an integral part of Alex's own resolution, then it'd feel like a huge cheat if we didn't actually get to see him before it's all said and done. It all started with Sam; I think it's only right that it should end with him too.
Plus I want to see John Simm in the role again so bad I can't even begin to tell you. But, you know...icing on the cake. :) The way they've written it, I think seeing Sam Tyler again is something that the plot really demands.
i would not be happy, personally, if sam appeared in the flesh (discounting LOM flashbacks...i'm thinking that's all it's going to be in this ep). to me, they've already done quite a bit to undermine alex's journey and even, to a lesser extent, sam's. i think having him return would do even more damage (maybe even cause en masse fanwankage (DO NOT WANT!)). i mean, surely there's a way to tie both shows together while keeping the sanctity (if you will) of sam's journey?
i've been going through LOM, slowly but surely. i'm not a huge sam fan.
