Honestly, I think it's a bit of a reach to try tying all the painting's details into the show's plot points, especially since the painting is thematically complex and the show often leaves things vague on purpose.
That said, I think that even if the painting is not intentionally related to the show, that shouldn't detract from the fun of comparing them. I know I really love it when I stumble across weird coincidences. When it comes to art in particular, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone here who never heard a song and thought "oh man, that's totally about Character XYZ!" and loved it, even though logically we know it can't have really been written about them!
