[It’s been a while since Maka has made a post like this, but then it’s been a while since she’s made an intentional post at all. The camera catches her seated in her room, staring straight at the lens with her shoulders squared and her gaze firm. This is for all of my friends, and for anyone I’ve talked to in the last couple of months ( Read more... )

You can't make such public statements as this and not expect some people to seek a little clarification.

Then I'll clarify.

I gave up. I stopped fighting back, and I waited to die. But I'm better now, and I'm staying that way. It was dumb.

A strength of baa isn't something the mind decides anyway.

[ a pause ]

Well done.

"Baa?"

[She looks surprised at his answer, and her expression slowly settles into a gentle smile.]

Thank you.

There is no exact term now, I think. But "spirit" would be suitable instead.

I see. Does it have anything to do with a soul? [This time, she isn't surprised.]

It is one of three parts to it. The others are akh and kaa.

[ a faint flicker crosses Bakura's features as he says the last word, but it is gone again in an instant ]

But these are ideas which this world no longer remembers.

I don't know those terms, but in my world, the soul defined everything. It was the essence of a person and who they were.

To say that something is something -- that "the soul defines everything" -- means nothing unless you can say why. Just to say that something is isn't an understanding of.

[Maka doesn't trust Bakura, but she still likes him for some reason. Not to mention, it's not quite a secret anyway...so she decides telling him, won't be the worst thing she could do.]

Our bodies and our minds allow us to function, but our souls are us. Our choices, and our personality...our very being is reflected in our souls.

When I look at a person, at their soul, I see who they are.

[ he disagrees, but decides it is not worth pushing about; he's well aware that the Egyptian concept of things is as much a relic as the land itself

instead his eyes narrow and his gaze becomes cold ]

And what you see is always accurate, is it? So you're a damned saew-seba...

It's accurate, but people change. [Shrug.] besides, I can't see everything and I don't try. [It's obvious he's not a fan of whatever that word is-something like a "seer" she guesses-so she doesn't ask.]
