[The device switches on and the camera view shifts as if someone is holding it but upon focus, it is clear the owner of the piece of equipment is nowhere around. He’s standing in the middle of the room, hands on the back of his head as he paces, back and forth in a circle for a moment and then the nearest item becomes the focus of his apparent ( Read more... )

[The minute the termination list went up, Kate left the hideout. She didn't say a word to anyone, she just left. This is the second person they've taken and it's not any more fair than it was the first time. Especially considering last week was the first time she had spoken to Tim in about five weeks. Now he's just gone. And it isn't fair. She's heading back now and when she sees Timothy outside, she just stops. Suddenly, her own sadness really isn't important anymore]

Timothy....

[His eye is swollen and dark from the spot where had been hit but it's hard to tell in the low lighting of the night. He's pressed up against one of the walls, knees tucked into his chest and wow, this position is familiar. He know's he's being pathetic but he needs time alone and after realizing that the ordeal went live on the feed he feels even more inclined to shove everything deep down, something he is used to. Hearing the footsteps approach his gaze drifts upwards and he pauses.

Kate, she was close to him and he feels suddenly guilty of something. It's a whirlwind of emotions for him and he cannot help but swallow when he see's her, pushing himself slowly up to stand.] Kate.

Hey.

[She manages the tiniest of smiles in greeting, though she doesn't really feel it. She hasn't seen the feed. Her 'berry is currently hiding under one of the beds in the house. It bit her right after she finished reading the list and ran away. She didn't care enough to try to get it back]

Hi. Are you-that's a stupid question, nevermind.

...What happened to your eye?

[He was perturbed by the additional arms and legs that the device had seen to grow and while he's was currently having it's own little adventure amongst the tall grass surrounding them, he didn't care much to attempt to retrieve it. He shoves his hands in his pockets and leans against the wall--he can't seem to return the smile, for all it's worth though he is content to see her.] Yeah--

Oh, whatever. It doesn't matter. [Changing the topic quickly.] Where were you?

[She doesn't mind the lack of smile back. Hers was more a formality than something she felt like doing]

It does matter. But if you don't want to say, that's fine. [She shrugs] Around. I just felt like taking a walk. How long have you been out here?

[And it really didn't to him, not in the least. So Alex punched him, he was used to it already and it was just something else to shut down, something else to press away for no one else to know about and in the long run, once the bruises faded, it would be forgotten.] It's just, not important right now is all.

[He leans against the wall of the house.] I'm not sure to be honest with you. I really have not been keeping track of time.

Right. [She's not going to argue. She doesn't feel like it right now]

Oh. [She isn't sure what to say. Just like last time, she has no idea what to do, especially since Timothy was much closer to Tim than he was Amalia] ...I'm sorry.

[He's leaning more against the frame of the home that rests behind him, eyes shifting to watch her face. His voice is cold, he is cut off and quiet.] You shouldn't be.

It's not like I was the only one who was close to him. You too, if you're apologizing to me I should be apologizing to you.

[She shakes her head, looking at the ground]

You were a lot closer to him than I was. He spent most of his time avoiding me or not wanting to talk to me about things. He had barely even spoken to me since Wonderland.

[What the other says is disturbing but he still shakes his head at the the thought. Kate, Tim had mentioned her once but really that was about it--he was unknowing to the tensions that lie between them and lately their conversations had been surrounding just the two of them and their interactions, sometimes speaking of Tim's extended family but it was more a getting to know you game that they played around carefully.

A pause and he offers out his hand to the other quietly, looking outward.] I don't think you can rate how close people are to others.

It's the experience you remember them by that counts.

[She looks up at him and silently takes his hand, giving it a little squeeze. Thinking about how much time Tim had spent avoiding her now. It hurts. Especially the avoidance after Wonderland considering what had happened in Wonderland. But dwelling on that doesn't do her any good now. All she has to focus on is now]

Right. You're right. I guess I just don't know what to say right now. Just like last time.

[Wrapping his fingers around her hand, he tugs down slightly--inviting her to come and sit with him as he lowers himself to the ground once more, to lean against the house that has become the safe point for the trip.] It doesn't matter.

There's really not much of anything we can say about it, anyone can say about it, to make it better.

[She sits down next to him, sighing a bit and leaning against him just slightly]

I know that. I just wish I could come up with something. But I can't. There's just nothing.

...I don't understand why they had to take him. But I also didn't understand why they took Amalia so. You know.

[Leaning back, it creates an even distribution of weight as he rests his head against her own. Amalia--he knew this all seemed familiar and no, he had not forgotten about her, but for that one it was Kate that took the brunt end of it all--she seemed the closest to the girl.] Maybe someday the words will come but for now--it's not worth trying.

I don't even know, I don't think anyone knows asides it being unfair and just a further way to play with us, with our emotions.

Someday. [For now she'll just settle for sitting there with Timothy, looking at the ground. She'll take her time to be sad and then try her best to push it aside, just like last time]

I'll never get used to this. It isn't any easier than it was last time. [It probably never will be. Especially when she keeps waiting for them to terminate someone else she cares about. Maybe Namine. Their relationship is pretty similar to hers and Amalia's and they took Amalia. Or maybe Timothy. That would really devastate her. Or, hell, why not just go for the really low blow and take one of the Young Avengers?]

[He's right aside her--he had his moment with Bucky, he knows--he knows what it's like to see Timothy in the worse state of sorrow likely anyone has seen him before in his entire life but he is a quiet person, he is a unable to share what he feels most of the time or allow it escape. So for now, he settles further against Kate, watching the sky.]

It never will be--I keep saying how people will turn numb to this kind of thing but this--this is hard, it'll never be the same and there's just so much that was left unsaid. [So much.]
