[After a difficult struggle at the dominoes, Naminé managed to somehow arrive at the Cranking Up and Pressing Down section of the Hatter's Domain relatively unscathed. Right now, she's sitting at the edge of a platform, looking out over the lava.]Sora, Roxas? Everyone? I'm sorry I didn't check in with you all earlier. I've been been trying to run ( Read more... )

[Luckily, Kate was in Hatter's Domain anyway on patrol. So when this post goes up she doesn't even bother responding, just goes to find the other girl. It takes her about two minutes to locate Namine. When she does she focuses on the Ruins first, firing exploding arrows at them. To Namine she says:] Stay back. The arrows explode.

A-Alright!

[Naminé backs up to stand behind the woman, keeping on the watch for more that might be sneaking up on them.]

Behind you--!

[The explosions seem to be pretty effective against the Ruins, though it takes a few each to get rid of them. When Namine says that there are some behind her Kate turns, gently pushing Namine behind her again and firing at the new monsters] Thanks. Got it. As soon as they stop coming we're getting out of here, okay?

[Naminé is so awestruck by what Kate is doing that it takes a moment for her to reply.]

Okay. I'll follow you.

[Once Kate gets rid of the last of the Ruins she glances around, slipping her bow over her shoulder. She turns to Namine then, giving her a little smile] I think we're safe for now. We'll head for the train. You're not hurt, are you?

[She glances around at the defeated enemies in shock before she turns, returning the smile shyly.]

No, I'm alright. Thank you so much for saving me. I don't know what I would have done if they'd cornered me here...

Don't worry about it. It's sort of my job. I'm just glad that you're okay. [She starts leading the way to the exit] So I'm guessing you sort of got lost in here?

[Naminé follows after her like a duckling would its mother, nodding though Kate wasn't looking behind her back.]

Yes. I was trying to find my friends. I can't protect myself that well, unfortunately...

There's no shame in that. Not everyone has to be a fighter. That's why there are people like me and my friends who are willing to help around. [And she just shrugs, still leading Namine towards the train. She doesn't see the problem with someone not being a fighter] I'm sure your friends will just be happy you're safe. My name is Kate, by the way. [She'll keep Hawkeye under wraps for now. And her costume is vague enough that it shouldn't come up]

Thank you for that.

[Naminé continues to follow her, glancing all around her as they walk. She would be glad to get out of this lava-infested place as soon as possible.]

It's nice to meet you, Kate. My name is Naminé.

Thanks aren't necessary.

[They're at the train now, or at least the platform. The train isn't there yet, though it should be arriving any minute] It's nice to meet you too, even give the circumstances. Looks like we'll have to wait for a bit. The train should be here soon.

[She nods, coming to a stop beside Kate.]

When you said it's your job earlier...did you mean something like what Power Girl does? Have you met her?

[She's looking all around now, making sure nothing else is coming at them]

I know Power Girl. And yeah, our jobs are exactly the same, actually. Though I guess job is kind of the wrong word for it since we don't get paid. Eh, whatever. It fits better than any other word I can think of right now.

You both remind me of someone else. He does the same selfless things you do, and he's called a hero for it.

[She smiles.] Maybe that's the right word?

[Kate shrugs and smiles a bit] That's the word people from my world use. And I guess it's right but I like to think of it more as just being unwilling to let people get hurt. I mean, what's the point in being able to help if you're not going to?

It takes a certain amount of bravery, I think. But you're right.

[She glances up.]

Aah. The train's here.
