Let me just explain that I've moved from Photobucket to Flickr, and although my PB will always remain open, I'm in love with Flickr now. (Plus, they gave me a free account to use with my SBC Yahoo, so.)
Anyway, on Wednesday, my Graphic Design 2 class went into the Big City for a field trip, to go to the
AIGA studio and the
Center For Book Arts.
At AIGA, a man named David Hall took us on a tour, through the archives, and then up to the library, and then to the third floor office space. Then, at the Center for Book Arts and learned how to set type.
It wasn't that big of a deal, but at AIGA, David let us rummage through the cool art stuff, so we all got some posters and stuff to hang up. And that's what I did yesterday, so that's what I'm going to post today:
This is the wall above my bed. I made all these designs for my Graphic Design 1 class last semester. The two Goudy ones were done for the Goudy Old Style type posters, and the one in the middle is my self-portrait.
Before I explain, yes, I made that Goudy picture myself, combining two pictures of Goudy into one. I'm rather proud of it, but no one else seemed to notice. This was my first Goudy design. Prof didn't like it, so I made this one:
I don't love either of them, but I like them okay.
This is a rather crappy picture of my self-portrait. We were supposed to gather things we would use to represent ourselves, compose a picture, and design a website for it. This was not my final design, but it's based off it. All I changed was the background (the final design is just diagonal stripes, while this one swirls). When I find the time, I'll get the original off my hard drive and upload it.
Anyway, on to my next wall.
This is my door. Here's a closer view of the "poster":
Don't worry, I have better pictures of the pictures. This is from AIGA. And yes, it does say "Gay-I-G-A"! (Obviously, you can see why I grabbed it.)
"Gay is Gaylord, who's been at 'Mode' for years. His chief joy is reducing interns to tears."
"I is for Ingrid with the unerring eye. The I-Mac 10,000 is the main reason why."
"G is for Grant who once saw an illustrator a day. Now you're lucky to get a note saying 'Go away!'"
"A is for Amir who's famously pliant. He'll go to any length to nab a client."
Here's a closer view of that picture, XD
"GAY-I.G.A. How gay is design?"
And finally, the wall next to my window.
This poster is HUGE.
It's also freaking awesome.
The end.
