I do wonder if most proponents are people who don't understand Mandarin and they buy into the lie that Mandarin accents are so different and therefore dubbing is "required" for native speakers to understand the actors.
Tbh, that's usually my assumption. The excuses I usually see are something about sets being noisy, actors being too busy to do their own voices after, and yeah stuff about accents lol. Oh yeah, and my favorite "the actor's voice doesn't fit the character". Not sure why they don't realize that Korean and Japanese dramas are never dubbed.
I'd say that drama was surprisingly decent. There were some poor aspects, mainly the know-it-all detective aspects (it's main gimmick), but the wuxia aspects weren't bad. I do like the background and fair amount of twists for seeming okay reasons. And some of the fighting isn't bad, but it's very limited. I thought some of the hand to hand stuff was alright.
