Football and dragons

Football is on tonight - State of Origin II for those foreigners interested. I just can't raise the enthusiasm - rather curl up with my book.

I have been reading the second book in the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. I got interested when I heard PJ has optioned the movie rights, and then got hooked because it's basically the Napoleonic Wars re- ( Read more... )

I'm not all that sure about Eragon - I was a little turned off when I heard the books they're based on were written by a 14 year old boy. How inventive could he be if the title is a combination of DRAGON and ARAGON?

Lol!! I was impressed when I heard it was written by a kid, but the cliques (sp?) he used are quite obvious.

Ahh, I've been itching for a good fantasy recommendation!!! And with dragons too=double yay. There's so many in the fantasy section of the bookstore, but it's so hard to find a good one lately, and not just filled with Tolkien cliches. Thanks for passing this on; I can't wait to read it! :)

I rather liked it too, although I really would have liked the movie to be a bit more fleshed out in parts. LOTR has spoiled me and I expect all my fantasy movies to be at least three hours long. ;-)
