Ok, I don't go online for a few days and 'kerfuffle' happens?
Can somebody please sum up for the wtf went on, and the current status?
I'm so tired from work I just don't have the energy to wade through it all!

More importantly, do I need to do anything to protect my content?

LJ deleted, (suspended?) 500 journals because of certain keywords listed in their interests.

Many blame Warriors for Innocence (Crazy right wing, fundamentalist Christian thing, apparently) for the goings on.

LJ stayed quiet about EVERYTHING for a day and a half before issuing the half assed apology that now appears on the front page.

People are still looking for answers, paranoia about journals being deleted is still running high and many are announcing that they will no longer be purchasing anything from LiveJournal ever again. Or they're just deleting their journals and going somewhere else.

I think that's the gist of it.

New twist on the whole LJ saga is that LJ did it to pretty up the site for investors. Get rid of all that pesky homosexuality so people will be inclined to invest when they take the company public.

I too was like 'what?'. I didn't think it affected me - I have a couple of slash pairings in my interests but they're all adults and not related - so I just stayed out of it.

I did too - mainly by dint of not having an online presence through that period :p Why do we stay with LJ when this sort of shite happens elvie? Remind me again! Oh yes. Because we don't want to report to Vox or myspace!! :D

I know how you feel! I've been around, but was entirely unaware of what's happened! Now I don't really know what this means for LJ...

Don't be sad! I predict it won't affect anyone who was not a member of those communities. And those who were will go underground - offsite to messageboards and such, where fandom lived before LJ :)
