Was anyone else besides me forced to read 'Bridge to Terabithia' in primary school? I just found out they're making a movie of it. It's spinning me out because I cannot remember a single thing about the damned book except the name! Loving the poster however.

movies, books

I remember the book, hated it rather passionately for a number of reasons not worth going into.

It's about a boy who befriends the 'new girl' in town and they christen this segment of the nearby woods "Terabithia" (Ta or Te?) and essentially claim it as their kingdom. It follows them for (I think) roughly a year, through ups and downs in the friendship and life et al. I want to say that the girl (Lesley, I think) dies near the end, or is seriously injured, while trying to reach Terabithia during flooding, but I can't remember clearly enough off-hand to be sure.

*Shrugs* To my mind, they could have picked a better book to turn into a movie, but then I'm also not the general public they're trying to appeal to.

I remember it now! Thanks for that :) I remember one of them has a horrible accident but not how it ends...
Will be interested to see if they market it squarely at little kids or young adults.

Yeah, I read that in primary school.

From what I can recall, it's about two girls who become friends, and they create this fantasy world in the woods.

And one dies.

And it's sad.

That's all I remember.

I totally remember now that it's a very sad book - perhaps they use it to teach little kids about death? Thanks for that :)
