It's been 19 weeks since I've posted. Which is a pretty long time. But I saw this article and thought I should share with you people...

Apparently, the company that bought LJ laid off 20 of LJ's 28 employees, leaving only the bare bones staff of finance and operations folks.

Okay so now I'm totally terrified and I can't back up. Because I'm on a Mac? Everything looks like wingdings.

yep. i read the article and it says you can only backup to Windows.

There's an app that is supposed to do it via GUI, but I couldn't get it working.

The situation isn't quite as bad as initially reported:

But it's a good idea to back it up (one of the reasons I cross post all my articles on my own blog.)

There are command line tools for OSX that will dump the database for you.

None of those options are particularly Mac-like though, but they'll work on a Mac.
