I haven't really been following all this FF.net wank because I haven't used FF.net in years, but it is CRACKING ME UP because what I understand is:

  • FF.net recently changed their TOS
  • And have been deleting fics that violate this new feature
  • Authors of deleted fics are very upset because they've lost their fics/reviews/whatever
  • So are their fans ( Read more... )

This happened on ff.n before, too, about ten years ago. I was talking about it with a friend and remembered that I remembered something happening on ff.n ten years ago, and suddenly felt kind of old. But yeah, the Great Porn Purge of 2003 or whatever.

LOL What I'm thinking of was in around 2004ish and involved song lyrics, possibly among other things.

TBH I am mostly shocked to learn people still use FF.net.

Like I heard something about a really graphic Mickey Mouse lemon fic? That could lead to someone innocent being scarred. Thats not ok. But neither is what I’m seeing from Critics United.

lmao

I predict a mass exodus to AO3 which its servers won't really be able to handle. lol.

I wish everyone would just cater to me and go back to posting stuff on LJ. But I don't really read fic anymore so oh well.

I'm just like "PEOPLE STILL USE FF.NET???" I guess because my segment of HP fandom migrated like, back in 2004 when this same thing happened + DW fandom is so focused on LJ (or was... booooo) I forgot anyone at all used FF.net.

LOL

I won't lie, I snagged an AO3 invite for one of my favorite authors on FF.N because honestly AO3 is so much more convenient for me and if her fic was taken down there wouldn't be enough puppy gifs to soothe my butthurt.

I use FF.net as my main fic posting place, and I have heard nothing about this change in TOS? I saw the change in format, which was... interesting... but TOS?

*goes to look*

I dunno what it's about because like I said I haven't used FF.net in a while so it's only hearsay, but I think something about porn no longer being allowed? Or maybe it's just smutty summaries getting deleted? IDK

I haven't been there for months, and I don't see any changes in TOS. I'm pretty sure smut has been banned since 2002 as they said, and they were just talking about ti again.

But don't ~some proportion of women use ff.net as their main source of erotica? WHERE WILL THEY GO NOW? Back to the trashy romances?

Man, can't they just go to AO3 or like.. anywhere else?
