this icon is inappropriately festive but appropriately Canadian

It's a pretty sad news day in Canada.

A plane crash in the Arctic killed 12 and seriously injured the 3 remaining passengers.

An F2-or-F3 tornado hit the tiny town of Goderich, Ontario, which is apparently the strongest storm Ontario's seen in over a decade. Lots of property damage, I'm sure some injured, at least one death. I actually have a ( Read more... )

I am confident it will, yes.

If this is true. I should probably clarify that it was not the most reliable of sources (Twitter).

My only consolation is that Jack got to see the party kick a bit o' ass before he passed away. He left the party on a high note, at least (though I really can't see them continuing to do that well now that he's gone).

Yeah, I'm glad he at least got to see their historic victory but sad he won't get a chance to act as Opposition Leader in the years to come. :(

I went to the Hill over my lunchbreak and there are flowers and signs and cans of Orange Crush by the Eternal Flame, plus a bunch of people crowded around. Very sad.

Me too. I paid more attention to this election than any other and as disappointed as I was with the overall result I was very surprised and impressed with the NDP's showing, and it was nice to have someone in Parliament who felt like a leader.

I've been reading about these events. I'm so sorry, hun. Days like these are never good. D:

Thanks. He'd stepped down ("temporarily") a little while ago and I admit that at the time I was skeptical that we'd see him come back, I'm still surprised by this. I think on some level I always figured he'd pull through, even if he wasn't well enough to return to Parliament.

I'm sorry :( I am laughing a little at the Canada icons in this post though (ESPECIALLY THE HAT ONE).
