I mean, it's Torchwood so I assume alien involvement by default. But I'm also feeling like for the random uninitiated American viewer this might be the first big hint that something ~not of this Earth~ is going on, and that Big Pharm is probably not the real Big Bad.

I would love a Tosh reference because Tosh was my old favourite but I think Gwen is a bit too white to go around introducing herself as Toshiko Sato lolol.
James McCrimmon is how Ten introduces himself at the start of Tooth & Claw to Victoria's guards ("I'm Dr James McCrimmon from the township of Balamory") -- Jamie McCrimmon was one of Two's companions and as far as I can tell the only male companion the Doctor was especially tight with.
LOL Yeah I do wonder about American viewers. And like, Amazon is now selling a boxset of s1 through COE, and I just imagine some poor American who's really into Miracle Day buying it and being so curious and busting out s1 and being like "WHAT THE HELL".
LOL HER AMERICAN ACCENT. A lot of my friend over here try to do an American accent when they talk to me. It's always bad. ALWAYS. And then they try to get me to do an English accent and I'm like "I shall keep my dignity, tyvm."
Actually I think my favorite part was when Gwen was telling Rhys how "horrible" LA is.
Karen Gillan is pretty awful, maybe it is a Scottish thing.
lol I saw this interview with Matt Smith ...yesterday I think it was.. and they asked if he could do an American accent and he was like I SURE CAN and started doing it and I was like lol no dude you sound like John Wayne.
