First of all, let me say that this chapter was amazing even though it upset me so much. I had been collecting lovely quotes and bits I liked from this chapter, but you'll see towards the end I was pretty much just D; D: D: and wasn't really capable of understanding what was happening.
“So...” he began, casting around for a safe topic of conversation. “What are you reading?” He bent down to pick the book up off the bed, his brows scrunching together as he read the title. “Attack at Area 52?”
WHAT A BRILLIANT NAME FOR A BOOK. SO CLEVER.
The Doctor made a noncommittal noise and flipped through the book. He raised his eyebrows. “Well, that was rubbish. And the first two hundred pages were filler.”
Isn't he going to notice he's alien? That'll be awkward. Um, yeah, Doctor, you don't just read like that.
She swallowed. “I would never do anything to hurt you. I might not get it right all the time but I promise I’m trying to do what’s best for you.”... How strange it felt, having the Doctor resent her for making choices on his behalf.HI

And also: “Don’t tell me what you think he would and would not do!” Rose hissed, and Jake flinched. She had a fleeting memory of running down a London street on Christmas Day, finding Donna Noble, and being too late to catch a glimpse of the body being hauled into the ambulance.
It was only a few years ago that he had burned up a sun just to say good-bye. Twist that knife, why don't you. :(
Though I have to admit I loled at this: How strange it felt, having the Doctor resent her for making choices on his behalf. You would think that since it is one of his favorite things to do he would perhaps unconsciously find it familiar and comforting

Omg I thought the same. thing. I WAS EVEN MAD HE GOT A NUMBER IN THE FIRST PLACE. This fic is breaking my heart, I wanna cry on the floor 10!style while clutching my Eeyore.
You would think that since it is one of his favorite things to do he would perhaps unconsciously find it familiar and comforting.
LOLOL YES. "This feels oddly familiar, and yet new at the same time!"
Though I understand Rose's "be free from your troubled past and start anew!" instinct, I feel like it's a bit ethically unsound to leave *before* telling Cloen that he's an alien or about their past.
Hmmmm. I'm not sure how much I can talk about this without getting into ~spoiler territory (lol), but for now I'll say that I don't disagree.
I know you won't give out spoilers, so I'm speculating, not fishing, but I'm totally starting to wonder if the amensia!angst is a bit of a red herring and the more serious angst is going to be post!amnesia!how-could-you angst, moving from amnesia!Cloen being mad at Rose for making decisions for him to post!amnesia Cloen being mad at Rose for being a martyr.
...can't say I'd have *much* sympathy for the Doctor in that situation, though. Cloen should be grateful she only went to her mum's and not to, say, get killed by Daleks on a spacestation in the future. ;)
Wow this is in a class all its own! It's like Exceptional Super Angst! Poor tortured Rose. I actually was all teary eyed at the end. Every once in a while, you just have to have a good tortured Ten/Rose fic and this fits the bill. Well done! Really looking forward to more.

Gorgeously heartbreaking, as intended. Well done!
