I am now curious: has anyone read all of the Series of Unfortunate Events books? Can someone give me a basic run-down of the ending and whether or not it was happy or whatever? I read the first five years ago and lost interest but I've always been curious and Wikipedia is confusing and vague.

ask the audience, books: best weapons in the world, hannah leads a double life

Well... I liked the series. I kind of have a problem with the ending. It is very vague, but I don't think it could have ended otherwise, because you're told from the outset that these are all unfortunate events. So the alternative would probably be for the Baudelaires to end up dead. This way, they might have survived, I guess.

I liked them when I was reading them, but I was reading them at my cousin's house and didn't care enough to buy my own copies when I got home lol.

Was it ambiguous on whether or not they lived?

I read all of them because I was determined to get through them despite loathing lemony snicket's writing style with all the fires of my soul

but I honestly can't remember how they ended

I thought his writing style was cute at first but it got annoying to me. I just felt too old for it. And I don't mind feeling too old for things sometimes, but with this I found it aggravating when I tried to pick them up later. STOP FAKE-DEFINING WORDS, DAMNIT.

I really liked the movie when it came out though. I was like 13 and I thought Klaus was very attractive lolol

At first I thought it was cute, and also I was young enough that I didn't know all the words. But when I got older I foudn it annoying.

Has anybody actually told you the ending though

I haven't read one since the last book came out but the epilogue chapter is that they're raising Count Olaf's baby, I think it's his baby--this woman he loves washes up on the beach and goes into labor. They haven't really found out the answers to any of the mysteries about their parents/VFD/whatever but I remember the message being like, even though they haven't found any answers and everyone they knew/loved has died they're still happy with each other. They have a family with the baby, each Baudelaire has his/her own role in the family, and they're all satisfied, like bad stuff happens in life but as long as you have your family it's okay. You don't get answers but I think it was a happy ending for them.

Ohhhh I see. That seems like a decent ending I guess, and fits the tone of the series.

I was wondering where you had gone btw.

Unrelated reply BUT I just have to say I JUST finished my undergraduate thesis on a rhetorical analysis of contemporary vampire fiction (including Twilight) and your icon makes me lol a bit. XD
