I've come to realize that this place isn't my home. My parents, my sister, and my niece are my world...But living here is...holding me back. I live such a wreckless lifestyle, work a dead end job, and rarely go to class. I want to move somewhere brand new, start over...Begin to live the life I should be living. I say do that or join Americorp or something similar. There's nothing like giving to bring substance to life.

I second the idea of trying to find a program - either a charity program you are passionate about, or even looking into programs designed for survivors to get a new start on life. I know they have a few programs like that in the Boston area, but I'm not sure if the rest of the country has them, though.

But even just starting with looking at a new place to live, investigating apartments and rent costs and such, would be a great start - so you know how much money you'd need, which can help you tailor a new job search

When I applied to graduate school, I applied mostly out of state because my parents were/are so abusive and I knew it wasn't healthy to be around them. I've been in Colorado for about three years and I've been able to move forward in recovery and to live my life more freely.

Of course moving isn't for everyone. Weigh your options, hun. Good luck.

*hugs*

Out of state is definately a possibility, but hopefully somewhere where I can still attend college?

wow, good for you! realizing it is so important and a great first step. but yeah, small steps first, then bigger ones. I'm about to join a group here in my town. I'm not in the US but I can attest to the whole wanting to and seeing it as a step. *hugs*
